Next up

Last Thursday I signed and returned my intent to the leasing office of the apartment building I have lived in for the last 3-years, indicating that I will not be renewing. My lease here will expire on May 31, 2024.

Over the weekend I signed a lease agreement with the owner of the townhouse I will be moving back to(longer story there that I’ll get into later) and that will run through the end of this year (will renew in November or so with a 12-month lease to cover all of 2025).

When I moved in to my current apartment I wasn’t sure what I was doing. After a year in I knew that this was not home, it was surviving and so I established a 3-year cycle of evaluating and deciding, giving myself the option to move every three years if I want to. I am approaching the end of the first 3-year cycle and will be moving.

I’ll be in the next place, which will be much more home like, through at least the end of 2027. I will evaluate everything at the beginning of that year and will decide by Summer or so what I am going to do next: stay put, move and rent, or move and buy. But, that’s for later.

For now I am focused on the immediate need to get everything sorted through in my apartment, continue chipping away at new furniture to built, and determine a rough timeline of sorts. Official move-in day is May 18th. I will likely have my leather business and related equipment and materials moved in closer to the beginning of May so that I have time to configure that area.

But, either way, May 18th is the official date to begin living there and to begin the process of making a place feel like a home. I am very excited!

Have a great Monday!
